The People behind A New Way
The Chair, Maj Gen (ret.) Amos Lapidot
Formerly commander of the airforce, where he served for 35 years as a fighter pilot and served in various command and staff capacities. Among the positions he held after leaving the army was that of President of the Technion. Lapidot is involved in varied public activity in the fields of education, coexistence, and the promotion of peace in the framework of the Council for Peace and Security.
Dr Tikva Bracha
The founder of A New Way and today serving as its executive director. A historian of the Middle East, Dr Bracha completed her BA at Bar Ilan University. At Tel Aviv University she wrote her MA thesis on the Egyptian intellectual, writer, and historian, Taha Hussein, followed by her doctoral thesis on Syria between the two World Wars. Dr Bracha teaches modern Middle Eastern history at the Open University and at Beit Berl.
Our Volunteers - the heart of the organization
Tens of volunteers, whether professionals in the fields of the humanities, medicine and law, school principals, teachers, educational advisors, psychologists, community workers, and artists. These volunteers, both Jews and Arabs, accompany every project from its preparatory stages to completion after three years, and they have the primary responsibility for its success.

Meira Peskin
Married, with four children and four grandchildren, this is the second year of Meira's voluntary work with A New Way. With a BA in history and an MA in literature, Meira specialized in contemporary Middle Eastern studies, in initiating changes in the system of education, in facilitating groups, and in promoting democracy. Meira has rich and varied experience in the field of education: in teaching at the Blich High School in Ramat Gan, in leading multicultural and uniculturl groups of teachers and pupils, and in instructing teachers in a civics course at the Beit Berl Seminary, in the framework of the unit dealing with education for democracy. |

Nihaya Abdu El-Hadi
N. is a resident of Lod, and the mother of five children. She works as
a helper at a kindergarten and is studying for her matriculation exams,
with the aim of studying social work in the future. This is the first
year of her activity with A New Way. |

Samira Arandes
Samira, a resident of Lod, is the mother of three. She volunteers as a
helper to the teachers at the Rashadiya school, where her children
are pupils, and this is the second year of her activity with A New
Way. Among her other activities Samira uses a video camera to record
the work of the organization. |

Shosh Shchori
Shosh, a grandmother of four who enjoys trips and hikes, is the head of
the project. She has already worked with projects for seven years,
first in Jaffa and then in Lod. Shosh has a BA in special education
and completed her MA studies in language and reading comprehension
at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. She taught in the regular school
system and in special education, and also worked as instructor to
teachers and in the preparation of tests in the department of surveys
and evaluation at the Ministry of Education. |

Yael Peled
Yael has worked with the projects in Lod, in harmonious cooperation with
Shosh, for a number of years. Yael, a grandmother of five, is a graphic
artist by profession, and is an active volunteer in Machsom Watch. |

Basel Ali Taha
Basel, born in Nazareth, is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Jerusalem,
and the oud is his main instrument. He is the musical director of a group
playing classical Arabic music about to produce a disc and soon to appear
at the Israel Festival. Basel is also involved in educational activity ,
including the formation of a youth orchestra comprised of both Jews and Arabs.
Tal Goldstein
Tal, born in Russia, graduated from the Levinsky Academy of music. At Levinsky
Tal specialized in rhythmics and then studied the Dalcroze method in Geneva.
She teaches rhythmics at kindergartens and at schools and has been working
with A New Way for five years.
Nati Ornan
Nati, born in Ramat Gan, graduated from the acting studio founded by Yoram
Levinstein. During recent years he has appeared with the National Youth Theater.
Nati is the driving force behind and the main star in two cabaret performances
which already have gained a loyal, admiring audience. He also teaches drama
at primary schools and at high schools.
Suha Masalha
Suha, born in Kefar Kara, studied pre-school education and theater at the David
Yellin Academy in Jerusalem. She worked as kindergarten teacher in the Jewish
sector, mainly in the democratic/alternative educational system. Three years
ago she began to teach drama at schools in East Jerusalem, and joined 'Psik,'
a theater group which is active in Jerusalem.

Raja Kahuji
Raja - a mother of five, was born in Gaza, and has lived in Jaffa for 25 years. She has taken various courses in education, including a course on work with the parents of preschool children, and has worked with the "Etgar" project for parental guidance. She has been a volunteer at A New Way for five years. |

Sulafa M.
Born in Kfar Qassem, and living in Jaffa for the past 21 years, Sulafa is the mother of three children and studied social work. She volunteers at the community center in Ajemi, substituting for the organizer of a special project for the elderly. She has been working as a volunteer for A New Way for three years. |

Lamia H.
Lamia, born in Jaffa, is a single parent and the mother of two girls. This is the first year of her work as a volunteer with A New Way. |

Tal Goldstein
Tal, born in Russia, graduated from the music academy at the Levinsky Seminary. Tal specialized in rhythmics at Levinsky, and then studied the Delacroix system in Geneva. She teaches rhythmics at kindergartens and schools, and has been working with A New Way for five years.
Fuad Jubran
Born in Jaffa, and a graduate of the music academy at the Levinsky Seminary, Fuad specialized in rhythmics and is studying towards a further degree in musical education at the Levinsky Seminary. He teaches music and rhythmics at state schools and has been working with A New Way for five years.
Gabi Arvid
Born in Jaffa, he studied acting at the Jewish-Arab Theater Al-Seraya, where he also performs as an actor. He learned movement in front of the camera at the workshop of Ruti D. Gabi moderates in different educational frameworks, among them at the "Children of Peace", and has been working with A New Way for the past three years.
Dov Brami
Born in France, Dov grew up in Rishon Lezion. He is studying towards a second degree in developmental psychology at the University of Haifa. Dov learned acting at the amateur theater at Bar Ilan University, and he works as a drama instructor at community centers, and also at Enosh. He has been working with A New Way for the past three years.
