A New Way was founded in 1998 by intellectuals who were ideologically guided by values of tolerance, equality, and friendship. An awareness of the urgent need to strengthen weak social groups, the need for pluralism, democracy, and respect for 'the other' and the intention to work at changing the existing situation, are all factors which unite the members of the organization and its volunteers. Through cooperation and a high level of community involvement our dream can become reality. All contribute -- mayors, parents, teachers, and volunteers -- both Arabs and Jews.
We believe in the need to get to know each other and the culture, customs, and daily life of 'the other,' so that we will be able to live side by side while striving for peace. We believe that Jewish and Arab children need to grow up in an atmosphere of understanding and tolerance rather than one of stereotypical thinking and prejudice. We believe that it is important to reduce the atmosphere of enmity and suspicion between the citizens of Israel, Arabs and Jews, so that we can build a democratic society. It is possible to turn a dream into reality! Hundreds of Arab and Jewish children, of kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, and high school age, participate in the meetings arranged by A New Way, while music workshops, drama and plastic arts form the bridge which enables them to get to know each other. Through these experiential meetings they widen their horizons, learn to appreciate their identity, and acquire important tools which will accompany them throughout their lives as adults. A New Way works in mixed towns such as Jaffa, Ramla and Lod and the area of the Zevulun Regional Council, and in neighboring towns such as Ramat Hasharon - Kefar Qasem, Nazareth and Afula, Umm Ell Fahm and the Menashe Regional Council - Abu Gosh, Mevaseret Zion – Har Adar, Jaljulie - Ramat Hasharon, Nazareth - Afula, and Emek Yizrael - Yafia and Iksal. It is possible to invest today in the generation of the future. Our volunteers and facilitators in the different groups are teachers of the highest professional level who have undergone our training sessions on work with multicultural groups.Know yourself -- know the other:
